Yeah... When you were talking about it the other day, it sounded like you were being harsh on yourself. I think I'm quite lucky really, as much as I moan about it as a profession, doing it for work for other people has made me very relaxed about my own work!
Having no one else to impress just makes things easier... I suppose you gotta ask yourself who you are trying to impress. If the answer is no one, then your probably just being mean to yourself ;)

Thanks Hamish.

There is definitely something to it, I think I've read something similar too. I also think that when I first see my photos I'm overly critical and dismiss photos too easily. When I come back to the photos a lot later I am more relaxed about them and see them diffrently.

... I shall keep an eye out for that future post!

I read a thing the other day about disconnecting yourself from your images by not looking at them for a prolonged period of time after you shoot them. It is supposed to remove the emotional attachment and leave you with a better idea of the objective merits. Of course, it's supposed to be about weeding out bad photos, rather than finding good ones, but I do wonder, considering some of the things you are said about your emotional response to your work lately, if there is something to think about there...?
