Japan Day 1 – Ginza, Tokyo

I’m sitting in the Hotel lounge area while I write this towards the end of my first day in Japan. The trip started Saturday morning when I got up at 5.20 to get a cab to the Train Station. I flew from Heathrow, which is a pain when I only live 15 minutes from Gatwick, but I got there in plenty of time. I even managed to sneak in a fried breakfast in the Club Aspire lounge before boarding my first flight to Helsinki, Finland. That flight and the subsequent flight to Japan all left and arrived on time, it took nearly 15 hours in total. It didn’t really feel like it though. I flew with Finnair, who were really good, I can recommend them.

I arrived in Japan at 10:00 Sunday morning local time (01:00 UK time). Getting through passport control was a breeze. I only took a large cabin bag, so I didn’t have to wait for a case. I got the Narita Express train to Tokyo station and then walked the 20 minutes or so to my Hotel in Ginza.

I dropped my bag off and went out to explore the Ginza area of Tokyo. There are lots of brightly lit buildings as you would imagine.

I wish I had made more of a plan, I’ve pretty much turned up in a foreign country with no clue as to what I’m going to do while I’m here. Once I’ve finished with writing this post, I’m going to try and plan my next few days.
